Evelyn Mason Yount, 88, passed away December 12, 2014 at Carillon Assisted Living in Shelby.
A native of Georgia, Mrs. Yount lived most of her life in Belmont, N.C. She was the daughter of the late William Harley and Sally Elnora Chambers Mason. Mrs. Yount was also preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Yount; brothers James Layfayette and William Deward Mason; and son-in-law J. C. Shelton.
She is survived by daughters; Laynette Y. Kanipe and husband Ken of Fallston and Darlene Shelton of Gastonia; son Gary Yount and wife Sherry of Walland, TN; grandchildren Scot Yount, Corbett and Kyle Kanipe and Anna Shelton; great grandchildren, Amber and Brandon Yount and Noah Kanipe; great-great grandson Pierce Andrew Yount.

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation and love to the staff at Carillon Assisted Living for their excellent care of Mrs.Yount while making her home there over the past four years. She could not have been loved more; and to Hospice of Cleveland County for their love and support during Mrs. Yount’s final days.
The family will receive visitors 3-4 pm Friday at A Simple Service 451 Hospital Drive Gastonia NC 28054. A memorial service will follow.
