Rev. William Kenneth Wilson II, was born on December 18, 1952 in Albemarle, NC to William Kenneth Wilson and Mrs. Jewell Beeker Wilson. He graduated from Albemarle Senior High School. He went straight into the Army after graduation and served in Vietnam for two years. He left Vietnam with the rank of Sargent and served in the NC National Guard. While in the Guard he attended Pfeiffer College with a double major in Religion and 20th Century History. On August 8, 1976, he married Julia Ann Davis of High Point, NC. Julia and Ken met at Pfeiffer College. They have been blessed to have recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Ken went to join the Lord, August 28, 2020.
Ken is survived by his wife, Julia and two adult children- a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wilson Norwood (husband Lance Norwood) a son; William Kenneth Wilson III, and 5 well loved furry babies.
He graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in 1979 with high marks and worked for Texilaxtic in High Point, NC as computer operator for 3 years. This was the time that computers were the size of rooms! From there, he served churches as Christian Educator in Panama City, Florida, Tupelo, Mississippi and Huntsville, Alabama. After Ordination, Ken served churches in Gardner, KS. , Clearwater, Fl., Douglas, Ga. Charlotte, NC and Kewanee, IL. He preached, taught Bible School (as well as wrote curriculum) led Bible and youth Groups. Ken especially loved working with children. He Always had a heart for service and helping people. His love for the Lord stood out in everyway.
He was an avid reader. Sometimes 3 books a one time. He was a computer geek and used the computer to write as well as do research. He loved to watch historical movies and catch the experts in their mistakes. He built plastic models of ships, planes, tanks and submarines. He would not build a model unless it was historically correct. He has a large collection of parts and books to make sure the models were correct to the smallest detail. He shared the love of models with kids in many states by teaching the youngsters how to model. Ken also loved music. He sang with his family on trips and music was always playing at home. Ken was an avid football fan. He loved the Green Bay Packers and Duke Blue Devils. He will be missed. There will be a memorial service for Mr. Wilson on September 26, 2020 at Ultimate Life Church, located at : 377 Ruben Center Drive-Suite 125, Fortmill, SC 29708. The service will start at 1:00 PM and will be officiated by Pastor Barry Harmon.
