Obituary for Wilbert Printice Garth Jr.

After a hard fought battle with many illnesses resulting from diabetes complications Wilbert Garth passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019. Within a couple of hours of his passing He shared with his Missy that he felt good and it was a good day. He even posted a jab on Facebook directed at his friends in Alabama about football.

Wil and Missy have greatly appreciate their parents and siblings as well as many friends and family who sent well thoughts their way during the long battles over the past several years. The community everyone provided him whether on the phone, through chats or through Facebook kept him engaged and part of your lives. Talking football and instigating with both Roll Tide and War Eagle fans, or posting crazy memes made him laugh loud and often. He also created a group on Facebook to chat with other amputees allowing them to share resources and have a safe space to ask questions. These outlets elevated his spirits and helped him give back to those that meant so much to him.

Above all, the most important people to him were those that called him Grandaddy. He always wished he could spend more time with them and found incredible joy and excitement when he received a call or visit or just saw updates about the amazing things these children were doing. He knew there are no limits to the things these shining lights will achieve. Granddaddy’s love will always be there with Mia, Isaac, Isaiah, Sarah, Kamara, Scarlett, Caitlyn and Cyan Rose.

A huge thanks to all the doctors, nurses and practitioners from the remote offices, to the labs and the operating rooms who took such amazing care of him. Without you he would not have been with us as long as he was.

To contribute to the future medical professionals that are so critical Wil chose to donate his body to science for study. Maybe one of those students will learn something from him that will lead them to a cure for one of the horrible diseases he fought against.
