Sean Joseph Ashwell, age 37, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Born in Cleveland County on June 3, 1985, he was the son of Joseph Frank Ashwell III of Gastonia and Kimberly Ann Medley of Hendersonville. Sean worked at Jimmy Jones Heating and Air in Gastonia. He was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and just being outdoors. Sean is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles Lewis Medley and Joseph Frank Ashwell, Jr.

In addition to his parents, Sean is survived by two sons, A. J. Ashwell and Finley Herzog; a daughter, Hannah Spears; two brothers, Michael Cline of Gastonia and Chad Cline of Hickory; grandmothers, Sherry Medley of Shelby and Brenda Ashwell of Gastonia; and his best friend, Rivergold.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of A Simple Service Burial and Cremation. The family will receive friends following the service.
