Obituary for Scarlett Ila Funderburk (Washam)
Scarlett Ila Washam Funderburk, age 60, died Monday, October 23, 2023 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Born in Mecklenburg County on December 14, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Mason and Katherine Cagle Washam. Scarlett attended The Freewill Church of Jesus Christ in Cramer Mountain. She enjoyed singing, writing gospel songs, playing the guitar and was even published for a poem that she wrote. In addition to her parents, Scarlett is preceded in death by a brother, Danny Washam and a sister, Darlene Collins.
Scarlett is survived by her husband of 36 years, James Alan Funderburk; two daughters, Alicia Kidd of Stanley and Brandy Kidd of Dallas; four grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb, Hudson, and Caralina.
Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 6:00pm at The Freewill Church of Jesus Christ, 145 Hamrick Road, Gastonia NC 28056. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm in the sanctuary.
