Robert “Bob” Wayne Sanders, age 61, died Saturday, March30, 2024 at Caromont
Regional Medical Center. Born in Montgomery Pennsylvania on August 17, 1962, he
was the son of the late George Willard and Elizabeth Watson Sanders. Over the years,
Bob and family relocated to Lynchburg Virginia where he spent his formative years. Bob
served his country in the United State Military. He was awarded the sharpshooter medal
twice and spent most of his tour in Germany. Along with being honored to be able to
serve his country, Bob was proud to be able to be a loving husband and father and
grandfather later in life. Not a day went by that he didn’t tell one or all that he loved them
and was proud of them and asked them to enjoy their day and to make good choices.
Over the years, Bob enjoyed many activities including motorcycles, muscle cars,
reading, and the latest being reloading. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in
death by his brother Rev. George Sanders.
Bob is survived by his wife, Yvonne; stepdaughter Stephania Smith of Gastonia;
stepdaughter Tiffany and husband Michael Hundley; grandchildren Skyler Smith, Emily
Smith, Faith Prine, Matthew Hundley, Blake Hundley, Joshua Hundley; brother Bill and
wife Joan Sanders of Rochester NY, brother Ron and wife Lynne Sanders of Charleston
SC; sister in law and husband Barbara Vaughn and Bob Little of Gastonia NC, sister in
law and husband Jan and Sam Love of Black Mountain NC, brother in law Arthur
Christopher of Dallas NC, sister in law and husband Freida and Vince Moore of Dallas
NC. Special mention to the extended family Alan and Tammie Sellers and children;
along with the many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday May 11 th , 2024 at 1:00 pm at The Point
Church, 6700 Wilkinson Blvd. Belmont NC
