Obituary for Robert John Gwiazdzinski

Robert John “Ski” Gwiazdzinski, age 80 passed away at his home on Monday, January 25, 2021. Born in Queens NY on September 14, 1940, he was the son of the late John Henry and Rose Kozakowski Gwiazdzinski. Ski was an active member of the Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, where he was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a long standing member of KofC Council 770. He served four years in the United State Air Force. Ski worked for IBM, Bellsouth and was the owner of Ski’s Air Conditioning. Volunteering was an important part of his life. He was a well known volunteer at the schools of his children and grandchildren, and won numerous awards at Holy Angels where he was known as Santa Ski. In addition to his parents, Ski is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Sherrin Gwiazdzinski; and other loving family members.
Ski is survived by a son, Robert Gwiazdzinski and wife Amie of Mt. Holly; a daughter, Lori Hanafin and husband Rick of Charlotte; grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Belmont with Father Paul Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to Holy Angels or Queen of the Apostles.
