Robert “Bob” Hines Gober, age 91, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Brian Center of Gastonia. Born on August 1, 1930, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Joe Corry and Helen Geneva Shearer Gober. He was a very friendly and outgoing person who never met a stranger. He truly loved people. He was an avid auto racing fan and active in various forms of auto racing most of his adult life. He also loved country music. He was in the Army Air Force during WWII. One of his proudest days and most cherished memories was his trip to Washington DC on the Flight of Honor to see the WWII Memorial. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by two brothers, Ben Ryan and Billy Gober; three sisters, Helen Taylor, Mary Nell Seale, and Eva Hise; and beloved nephew, Brian Gober.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlotte Anne Gober; granddaughters, Chloe Gober and Ruby Gober; a sister, Nettie Ann Gloudeman; a brother, Joe Frank Gober; Sister-in-law, Gloria Ryan; Special nephew, Ben “BJ” Ryan all of California; granddaughter of the heart, Emily Beatty, a host of loving nieces and nephews; and his special buddy, Rocky Cat.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 2:00pm until 3:30pm in the chapel of A Simple Service Burial and Cremation.
