Philip James Rakotz,age 61,passed away peacefully November 5,2020 in his sleep. Phil was born November 5,1959 in Romulus, Michigan to Shirley and Melvin Rakotz with younger siblings Michael,Douglas and Rob Rakotz. Phil was a quiet, gentle soul that valued family and his beloved cats (all named Kitty). Phil was very friendly and kind and loved by many.He had a quiet sense of humor that kept everyone laughing .Phil was a passionate musician who admired listening to various types of music and treasured playing the drums.
Phil worked in various trades through out his skilled career, all in Michigan. Phil resided in Michigan with his brothers Rob and Doug Rakotz,children Jenna and Edward Rakotz, and four nieces until 2013, when he moved to Gastonia, North Carolina to be closer to his brother Mike. Phil remained in Gastonia ,North Carolina preceding his passing on November 5, 2020 with his brother Mike (Susan) Rakotz, two nephews, one niece, two great nieces, and one great nephew.
Phil joins his parents, Shirley and Melvin Rakotz in heaven, along with his sister-in-law Diana Rakotz. Phil is survived by his brothers Mike (Susan) Rakotz, Rob Rakotz, and Doug Rakotz, daughter Jenna (Fiance Bryan Butzin) Rakotz and son Edward (Jennifer) Rakotz, grandchild Brayden Butzin, two nephews, seven nieces, seven great nieces and four great nephews.
At this time, there are no scheduled funeral services due to COVID-19. Arrangements to be made come next late spring/ early summer in Michigan to be held outside in celebration of Phil's life with family.
