MOUNT HOLLY Mary Helen Mims Haas (DeVinny), 80, of Mount Holly, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas. Born Dec. 25, 1938 in Belmont, she was the daughter of Levi Miller DeVinny and Mattie Lorene Hicks DeVinny. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Granite Falls and worked many years in nursing homes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Harold "Cooter" Mims and her second husband James Haas; and a daughter Delphia "Dale" Rudisill. She is survived by a daughter, Angela Swickrath and JL Thompson of Mount Holly; two sons, Sam Mims and Darrell Mims and wife Shirley of Mount Holly; a brother Garland "Pee Wee" DeVinny and wife Shirley of California; grandchildren, Amanda Pleasant and husband, Michael of Dallas, Josh Porch and wife, Tanessa of Hudson, Clint Porch and wife, De'anna of Granite Falls and Jessica Hughes and husband, Ward of Mount Holly; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11a.m.Wednesday, August 14th at Berea Baptist Church in Gastonia with the Rev. Wayne White officiating.
