Obituary for Marlene Guinevere Roach (Blackley)

Marlene Blackley Roach (88) born April 21, 1933 passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2021 with her loved ones by her side, at the Wellington House of Gastonia where she was a resident. She was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Rodney and Geneva Blackley.
In her early years she was a candy striper at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, then worked at the Federal Reserve Bank. After marrying she later became a homemaker and mother. Although she was a mother of four children, she became “mom” and “grammaw” to everyone. Her home was open to all in need. Whether it be a place to stay or sleep, a meal, or just visit. She was a sassy little lady who loved spending time with her family, laughing, smiling and most of all dancing. She was a woman of faith and a longtime member of Christ The King Church in Charlotte, NC. Marlene touched the hearts of so many people and will be greatly and forever missed.
Ms. Roach is preceded by in death her husband Ross F. Roach III. She is survived by four children, Ross (Randy) Roach and Judy of Vass, NC, Gary Roach of Greenville, SC, Russell Roach and Deanna of Charlotte, NC, Shelby Edwards and Wayne of Gastonia, NC, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sister Glenda B. Moore of Apex, NC, three nieces and a nephew and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
