Obituary for Judy Ella Gates (Rayfield)
Judy Ella Rayfield Gates, age 80, died March 28, 2022 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Born in Gaston County on September 22, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Selma Thompson Rayfield. Judy was a member of The Salvation Army and the McAdenville Wesleyan Church. She worked as a clerk for the Postal Service in Lowell for a number of years. Judy enjoyed reading, going on Christian Tours, and watching Golf.
In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband Edward Gates, a sister, Joyce Horne.
Judy is survived by her son, Patrick Gates and wife Pattie of Cramerton; two grandchildren, Mallory Watson and husband Jeremy, and Joshua Gates and wife Alicia; seven great grandchildren, Hannah, Kayleigh, Erin, Raelyn, Chloe, Ella, Hunter, and Amelia; a brother, Alfred Rayfield and wife Betty of Springwood; and her beloved canine companion,” Daisy”.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at The Cramerton Community Center from 2:00pm until 6:00pm. Graveside service will be held on Monday April 4, 2022 at 1:00pm at Hillcrest Cemetery.
