Johnny James Newton, age 73, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at his home. Born in Havana Georgia on December 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Sugg and Fronnie Jones Newton. Johnny was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a former member of Bethlehem Revival Temple in Niagara Falls NY, wherehe served as a minister.Johnny was a truck driver for over 18 years, a phenomenal teacher of the gospel for 28 years and the word of God was something that he stood firm on! He was a devoted father, awesome grandfather and an amazing husband. He loved his wife and family unconditionally. He loved the outdoors, fixing stuff and being in the yard. Those were things he took pride in. He served his purpose here on earth so now he can finally be rewarded in the mighty kingdom of God and continue to preach the word to all who will listen. In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by three sisters and eight brothers. Johnny is survived by his wife of 51 years, Edna Goldsmith Newton; three sons, Johnny Newton Jr. and wife Joann of NY, Jerome Newton of Gastonia, and David Newton and wife Erica of Gastonia; a daughter, Sheila Newton of NY; a sister, Irene Crayton of Florida;
19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
We all will miss him tremendously but we also know that our day will come when we will be able to rejoice with him again. Rest peacefully, we love you.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 3:00pm at Armstrong Cemetery.
