Glyda Jean Hall Godfrey, age 88 died Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Courtland Terrace. Born in Gaston County on January 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James and Velma Williamson Hall. Glyda was a member of East Belmont Free Will Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Glyda is preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Barnes Baker; two sons, David McJunkins and Rick McJunkins; three sisters and three brothers.

Glyda is survived by two sons, Steve Barnes and wife Nikki of Belmont and Larry Barnes of Gastonia; 7 grandchildren, Sandy Barnes, Angie Smith, Jennifer England, Steven Barnes Jr, David McCombs, Rick Jolley, Destiny McJunkin; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Jimmie Hall of Wilson;

Graveside service will be held on Monday March 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the chapel of A Simple Service.
