Obituary for Gloria Jean Leffler (Mitchell)

Born to Eleanor Brown Mitchell and George Joseph Mitchell in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania.
Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Albert Lot Leffler Jr. Survived by her children Albert Lot
Leffler III, and Elizabeth Leffler Caldwell (Randy) and granddaughters Maizie and Cassie.
Gigi and Al met at Penn State where she was his sister's roommate. She was an English Lit. major and
during her time at Penn State had the privilege of tutoring many players on the football team along with
Rosey Grier. She taught for a very brief time at West Mifflin High School in Pittsburgh.
Gigi loved music and gardening. She was president of the Symphony Guild of Charlotte twice and the
Opera Guild of Charlotte, and Wing Haven gardens and bird sanctuary. Her backyard garden was
featured in the Home and Garden tour Charlotte.
She was a founding member of SOVA (Southeastern Orchestra Volunteer Association) this was her
passion she put her heart and soul into this organization.
Gigi had developed Dementia and was living with her daughter, in June of 2022 her Dementia had
worsened and she was moved to Hospice where she would spend the rest of her days. She fought and
held on for 11 months. The Staff at Robin Johnson House went above and beyond to make life as good
as it could be for the whole family.
The thing she loved most was AL and they are now reunited in eternity.

Services will be held at 11am on Sat. May 13th 2023 at Crowders Creek ARP Church 207 Crowders Creek Church Rd Gastonia NC 28052
