Gary Lynn Thomas of Stanley, NC, passed away at the age of 69 on January 3, 2021 at Atrium Health Lincoln. He was born on May 21, 1951 to the late James Harold and Mabel Hawthorne Thomas in Smyth County, Virginia. He attaended Patrick Henry High School and Virginia Highlands Community College in Virginia. Gary was employed by Duke Energy for over 35 years, until his retirement in 2016 after which he enjoyed spending time working on the family farm. He was a member of Alexis Baptist Church since 1986.
Left behind is his wife of 49 years, Linda Thomas; his daughters Michelle Thomas Johanson and Marsha Thomas Tarte; his brother John David Thomas; and his sister Sharon Elizabeth Johnson.
A private graveside service will be held at Alexis Baptist Church.
