Obituary for Florine Elizabeth McGinnis (Brooks)
Florine "Flo" Elizabeth McGinnis (Brooks), 76, of Dallas passed in her home on 1/27/2019 surrounded by her family, under the care of Hospice.
She was born on 1/9/1943 in Mecklenburg county. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Thurman Brooks and Dorothy Elizabeth Russ Troublefield, grandparents Ella Russ and Thomas Russ, brother William Brooks, and great grandchild Brodie Layne King.
Flo enjoyed gardening, watching animal shows, cooking, visiting the flea market and yard sales. She loved watching birds from her porch, and talked CB radio under the alias "Sophie Mae".
Survivors are her husband of 57 years, John McGinnis, Sr. and her four children and their spouses. Brenda McGininis (and Randy), Beverly Hensley (and Roger), Betty King (and Nick), and John Jr. (and Kim). She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Patricia, Daniel, Eric, Jonathan, Jade, and Kandice, as well as her 3 great grandchilden, Connor, Alexia, and Kaylee.
In addition, Flo's extended family consists of Jessica (and her son Ethan), Elisha (and her daughters Dezirae, Olyvia, and McKayla), Rosa, Cameron, along with Justin and Eric.
The service will be provided by A Simple Service on Thursday, 1/31/2019 from 6-9pm. Address for service is 451 Hospital Drive, Gastonia NC 28054.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Hospice in memory of Mrs. Florine McGinnis.
