Obituary for Catherine Blum Palmer (Crane)

Catherine (Cathy) Palmer, 78, of Bartow, FL sadly passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, after a battle with cancer. Cathy was born to John and Kitty Crane on September 2, 1943, in Louisville, KY. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, TX, and went on to become an award-winning journalist and a public information officer.
Words were her life. Whether she was writing a news story or acting as a public information officer, she made her living communicating. She was hardly ever at a loss for words and will forever be remembered for her quick wit. Cathy loved sweet tea, crossword puzzles, a good novel (she was never without a book!) and all things BBC. She was a great cook and was known for dirtying every pot and pan in the kitchen when making a meal, and she firmly believed that a woman could never have enough shoes.
Cathy is survived by her three daughters Jo (Cory) Flemings, Jill (Dan) Marquis and Jennifer (Brett) Stewart as well as her bonus children Barbara (Ken) Rominger, Patsy (Randy) Stucker, Pam Gordon, Wendy (Jeffrey) Cutaio and Jeff (Niki) Palmer.
Cathy and her husband Al shared 43 years together before his death in December 2020. Both of their lives will be celebrated on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 3pm at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Salvation Army.
Cathy’s legacy is not found in the news she reported, the stories she wrote or the information she shared. Her legacy is seen in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the deep love they feel for her and knowing that as a Christ-follower, they will see her again.
