Mr. Bobby James Decker went to be with the Lord on Nov. 15, 2017. The services will be held at The Salvation Army on Monday Nov. 20, 2017 from 12pm-1pm with a meal for the family to follow. The address is as follows: 1506 Union Rd Gastonia, NC 28054.

Mr Bobby James Decker was born on March 6, 1942 in Murphy, NC. He was the son of the late Leonard and Pearl Crowe Decker. He was a very active member of The Salvation Army. He loved to ring the bells during the Christmas season. He played in the band and was also the band director for several years. Among the many things he did while serving in church was driving the bus to pick up people for services, working at the shelter and driving the truck to pick up the donations for the store. He shared a family hobby of camping, fishing and being outdoors. Bobby was also a veteran of the Army and served from 1963-1967.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Decker Jenkins and an infant son, Nathan Lamar Decker.

Survivors include: Jerline Decker, wife; Martha Faye Pettis from a previous marriage; Sydney Decker, son; Carmen Stokes, daughter; Renee Maldonado, stepdaughter; Bill Brown, stepson. Grandchildren: Sierra Brooke Stokes, Angelica Marie Stokes, Ariel Evenstar Martin and William Alexander-Scott Martin. Step-grandchildren: Justin Maldonado and Dillon Maldonado. He has one great grandson: Nathan Lamar Hair-Stokes. Brothers: Kenneth Decker and Jerry Ray Decker. Sisters: Wanda Bush, Barbara Finney and Helen Shaw. There is also several nieces and nephews.
