Barbara Jean Thompson Arton, age 91, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Brian Center in Gastonia. Born in Detroit Michigan on September 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Otis Thompson and Millie McKinney. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church and was the owner of Buttons and Bows Children’s Shop in Shelby. She enjoyed spending time with family. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by a husband Wayne Arton; a grandson, Duane Arton.

Barbara is survived by a son, Bruce Arton and wife Jackie Ryan of Dallas; two daughters, Pam Bolick of Shelby and Debbie Hudson; three grandsons
