Axie Loretta Garland Eury, age 77, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Piedmont Medical Center. Born in Graham County on March 30, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William Nathan and Ada Winona Cable Garland. Axie was a member of Church of God EIM. She was an administrative assistant for Waste Management in Gastonia for a number of years. Axie enjoyed being with her family, working with flowers, sewing, and genealogy. In addition to her parents, Axie is preceded in death by a sister, Velma Phillips.

Axie is survived by her husband of 20 years, Kenneth “Buddy” Eury; three sons, Danny Jenkins and wife Liz of Charlotte Tony Jenkins and wife Sandy of Dallas, and David Eury and wife Holly of Clover SC; a daughter, Viki Queen and husband David of Gastonia; 3 brothers, William Garland Jr. of Gastonia, Darrell Garland and wife Linda of Robbinsville, and Gerald Garland and wife Teresa of Robbinsville; four sisters, Wilma Royal of Robbinsville, Carol Cable of Iron Station, Sue Maiers and husband Dick of Dallas, and Kathy Harrison of Dalton Ga.; six grandchildren, Danielle Helgeson, Jonathan Jenkins, Journey Hancock, Wesley Jenkins, Jesse Jenkins, Caitlin Goyette, and Josh Eury; five great grandchildren, Chip, Colton, Jordan, Drysten, and Alexander.
